Admission requirements
Completion of at least 90 semester hours of study (three academic years) at an accredited college or university is required. Preference is given to applicants who have completed a bachelor's degree or are pursuing a combined degree in which they will earn a bachelor's degree during their first year in dentistry.

Application process
- Take the
Dental Admission Test (DAT)
by August of the year preceding the year for which you seek admission (by August 2009 for admission in 2010, for example).
- File an application with the American Dental Education Association's Associated American Dental Schools Application Service (AADSAS) beginning June 1 of the year preceding the year for which you seek admission.
- Simultaneously send three letters of recommendation and your official transcripts from each institution attended to the American Dental Education Association.
- Completed AADSAS applications must be on file by November 1. Apply as early as possible, even before you take the DAT.
- If your AADSAS application is approved, you will be asked to complete a final application to the UI College of Dentistry and arrange a personal interview.
- Admitted candidates will begin to be notified December 1.
- Applicants accepted before February 1 must submit an advance payment of $500 within one month after notification of their acceptance. Students admitted after February 1 must submit the advance payment within two weeks after their notification of acceptance. This payment is not refundable, but is credited toward tuition and fees for those who enroll.
