The college looks for candidates who have demonstrated success in rigorous academic programs, a competitive GMAT score, post-baccalaureate professional work experience, and leadership potential.

Application deadlines
Classes begin in the fall semester. These deadlines
apply to applicants for the Full-Time MBA Program only:
- Priority date for international applicants: January 15
- International applicants: April 15
- Priority date for U.S. applicants: April 15
- Final date for U.S. applicants: July 30
Application procedures
Send some application materials to Admissions and some to the Tippie School of Management.
Materials to send to the Tippie School of Management:
- A résumé outlining your education, work experience,
and other activities
- Two
essays in response to questions in the online (and downloadable) application
- Contact information for three recommenders who can address your potential to succeed in the MBA program and in business
- The admissions committee members will reach out to your recommenders if they deem it necessary.
- If your recommenders prefer to submit their recommendations outright, forms may be submitted Online or you may Download and Print* the forms.
Materials
to send to Admissions:
- A second set of your official academic records/transcripts (current and former UI students do not need to provide UI transcripts)
- Your
official GMAT score
report (Iowa's institutional code is 6681)
- International students may also be required to submit TOEFL or IELTS scores to comply with the university's English Language Proficiency Requirements.
- Once recommended for admission, international students must send a Financial Statement.
Apply
If you Apply Online, the $60 application fee ($100 for international students) is payable by Discover, MasterCard, or Visa. If you cannot pay by credit card, you may Download and Print an Application* and pay the fee by check or money order in U.S. currency made payable to "The University of Iowa."
