Applicants must meet the Admission Requirements of the Graduate College and the department offering the degree program (review the department's web site or the General Catalog for departmental requirements).

Application deadlines
- Fall Semester—May 1 (April 1 for international students)
- Spring Semester—November 1 (October 1 for international students)*
- Summer Session—April 1 (March 15 for international students; March 1 for practicing veterinarians)
* Note that only combined degree applications are accepted for the Spring Semester (i.e. JD/MPH, MD/MPH, PharmD/MPH, and DVM/MPH)
Application procedures
For this degree program, you will need to send some application materials to your academic department and some to the Office of Admissions, which handles Graduate College applications.
Materials to send to the department:
- Your official academic records/transcripts (current and former UI students do not need to provide UI transcripts)
- Three (3) Letters of Recommendation*
- A résumé highlighting your public health experience
- A statement of purpose (1-2 pages) describing your plans for working in public health and identifying your subtrack or combined degree area
Materials to send to Admissions:
- A second set of your official academic records/transcripts (current and former UI students do not need to provide UI transcripts)
- Your official GRE General Test scores from the Educational Testing Service (the
University's institutional code is 6681)
- MCAT, LSAT, VAT, PCAT, DAT, OAT,
or GMAT scores may be substituted for the GRE.
- International students may also be required to submit TOEFL or IELTS scores to comply with the University's English Language Proficiency Requirements.
- Once recommended for admission, international students must send a Financial Statement.
