MS, MAT, and PhD in Science
Education are awarded by the Graduate College. The MS is thesis program only. The MAT is a nonthesis program.

Applicants must meet the Admission Requirements of the Graduate College and the department offering the degree program (review the department's web site or the General Catalog for departmental requirements).

Application deadlines
For MAT applicants:
- Fall
semester—March 15
- Spring
semester—October 15*
- Summer
session—March 15
* Three semesters of science methods/practicum courses must be taken before the student teaching semester begins in the fall.
For MS and PhD applicants:
- Fall semester—January 15 (Faculty will review all graduate applications for admission and assistantships—including those submitted by international students—beginning January 15. Assistantships will not be offered until late March. Applications received after January 15 will be considered only if space and funding are available.)
- Spring semester—December 1 (October 1 for international students)
- Summer session—April 15 (March 1 for international students)
Application procedures
For these degree programs, you will need to send some application materials
to your academic department and some to the Office of Admissions, which
handles Graduate College applications.

- A second set of your official academic records/transcripts
- Your official GRE General Test scores from the Educational Testing Service (the
University's institutional code is 6681)
- International students must send their official TOEFL scores from Educational Testing Service (the
University's institutional code is 6681).
- Once recommended for admission, international students must send a Financial Statement.
