Most first-year students at Iowa choose to live in one of our 10 residence halls because they offer convenient access to classes and other first-year students. However, Iowa City has plenty of rental opportunities for students who choose to live off campus.

Iowa also has an active Greek system, and many fraternities and sororities offer housing for their members. Another option for single students and students with families is to live in one of the University-owned apartment complexes, which are also close to campus and served by the free Cambus system.

Live in a Learning Community
Learning Communities are designed to allow students with similar interests to live together on specially designated floors in the residence halls. Some floors are for engineering students, others for those interested in the performing arts, the University Honors Program, or other areas. This is a great opportunity to make lifelong friends early on at Iowa.
