Global Assessment Certificate Program
The Global Assessment Certificate (GAC) is the world’s most recognized university preparation program for students with English as a second language. It was developed by ACT in conjunction with universities and accrediting bodies around the world to prepare students for university study in English-speaking countries.

We accept GAC program credit
The University of Iowa (UI) is one of the GAC program’s Pathway Universities. UI accepts credit toward a bachelor’s degree for the following courses, although GAC courses may not be used to satisfy course requirements specific to majors in the College of Engineering:

GAC 005: Computing I: Intro to Computing for Academic Study 3 semester hours (s.h.)—May be applied to the College of Business Core Requirements: Computer Analysis, or used as elective hours. NOTE: Students must also complete GAC 011: Fundamentals of Data Management.
GAC 010: Mathematics II: Probability, Statistics, & Finance 3 s.h.—May be applied to the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences General Education Program: quantitative & formal reasoning hours, or used as elective hours.
GAC 011: Computing II: Data Management 3 s.h.—May be applied to the College of Business Core Requirements: Computer Analysis, or used as elective hours. NOTE: Students must also complete GAC 005: Introduction to the Internet & Word Processing Skills.
GAC 012: Business II: Business Studies 3 s.h.—May be used as elective hours.
GAC 013: Science II: Scientific Principles 2 s.h.—May be applied to the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences and College of Business General Education Program: natural sciences (nonlab) hours, or used as elective hours.
GAC 014: Academic English III: Listening and Speaking Skills 3 semester hours (s.h.)—May be used as elective hours.
GAC 016: Mathematics III: Calculus & Advanced Applications 3 s.h.—May be applied to the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences General Education Program: quantitative & formal reasoning hours, accepted as first-semester calculus, or used as elective hours; may be applied toward the College of Business Calculus for Business prerequisite.
GAC 017: Computing III: digital Communication 3 semester hours (s.h.)—May be used as elective hours.
GAC 022: Business III: International Business 3 semester hours (s.h.)—May be used as elective hours.
GAC 023: Science 2 s.h.—May be applied to the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences and College of Business General Education Program: natural sciences (nonlab) hours, or used as elective hours.
GAC 024: Discrete Mathematics 3 s.h.—May be applied to the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences General Education Program: quantitative & formal reasoning hours, or used as elective hours.
