I grew up as a Hawkeye, and that made my decision to come to school here easy. There’s so much school spirit and pride in the University. You see it on campus: everywhere you go, you see students wearing black and gold Iowa t-shirts.

I was on the Homecoming Executive Council, and we were recognized at the finale of Homecoming week, during halftime of the football game. The Executive Council had spent the past year working hard to plan all the events for the week, and the entire week itself was exhausting, but once we walked out there and saw everyone in the stands clapping for us, it made it all worth it. We knew we had done something worthwhile and memorable. I will always remember the feeling I had when they announced my name on the field. You can get involved in just about anything here, and when you do, you really feel like you’re a part of the University.
