The
University of Iowa—being a large, research university with so
many options and resources—allowed me incredible flexibility
in terms of structuring my education. I never feel limited in the
kinds of classes to take, activities to be involved in, or people
to meet.
In
my first year at Iowa, I worked with a political science professor
to complete an honors research practicum on regional politics in Russia.
I also had an awesome internship on campus as an Orientation student
advisor.
I
also served as executive director of the Bijou Theatre, the
campus theater that features award-winning cinema, including foreign
films
that wouldn’t be shown anywhere else in town.
I’ve
always felt comfortable and at home here. Iowa’s an incredibly
open, friendly place, with myriad opportunities for students.
