Interning for NBC's Meet the Press in Washington, D.C., was incredible. I had the chance to meet high-profile figures in politics, work in NBC's Washington bureau, and help produce a weekly program that has a significant impact on America's political discussions, whether they're on Capitol Hill or in a living room in Iowa City. I think the University of Iowa's strong academic reputation played a big part in helping me land my internship.

Right now I'm doing public policy research for course credit and helping others improve their writing skills as a writing fellow. My experiences and internships will make me a more marketable candidate once I jump into the competitive job market after graduation.

I’d encourage students to be ambitious and take advantage of the resources at Iowa. I got my internships because I thought, ‘why not me?’
