You can look
at Iowa as a place to have a great time and get a degree. But you can
also look at it as a resource...a launch pad to a
fulfilling life. It'll be that, too.
When I was
at Iowa, I was involved in lots of extracurriculars—the Multicultural
Business Student Association, Phi Beta Sigma, the Judicial Board...People
in the Career Center helped me to get my internship. My professors gave
me advice about internships and career goals, and the contacts I made
helped connect me with my internships with EMI North America, an entertainment
law firm, and BET (Black Entertainment Television).
My internship with BET led to a full-time job there in Washington, D.C.,
where I stayed for four years. Then I got a job with MTV Networks. I've
been with MTV for almost three years.
I do record-label
relations, keep them updated on the status of videos. I deal with rotation,
programming, selection of videos, and scheduling. My job's great because
it's different every day. I'm right where I aspired to be. |
