One
of The University of Iowa’s strengths is the diversity of the
University community, its academic programs, and its activities. I chose
Iowa because I wanted a lot of choices. No matter what your interests
are or if you’re uncertain where you’re headed—you’ll
find your place at Iowa.
I learned
a lot just being exposed to new ideas and new people in the classroom
and in campus activities. The size of Iowa turned out to be one of its
strengths—I had a lot of choices, but I always felt like I was
a part of a great community, not just another number.
It’s
thinking that matters in the real world and developing that ability
stems in part from having diverse experiences.
I also earned
a great education at Iowa. Academic programs all over campus are ranked
nationally. Nationally recognized professors who cared about undergraduate
education taught me and were accessible outside of class. The University
also optimizes its curriculum based on what they hear from companies
that hire recent graduates.
The Tippie
College of Business's emphasis on writing skills strengthened my writing
ability
and is a key asset in my current job.
I also had
a lot of opportunities to get involved in activities at Iowa—there’s
something for everyone. While at Iowa I helped an organization raise
over a half-million dollars for the Children’s Hospital of Iowa
and led students to Des Moines to restore funding to the University.
My involvement
in campus activities helped me develop valuable leadership skills and
demonstrated my ability to work in teams, apply knowledge, and accomplish
tasks—all things employers were looking for when I graduated. |
