- Former
U.S. Rep. David Bonior—As
a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from 1976 to 2002,
the
Michigan native held several
leadership positions among his fellow Democrats. At retirement from Congress, he was the second-ranking Democrat in the House. BA, Political Science,

- General James E. Cartwright—As commander of the U.S. Strategic Command at Offutt Air Force Base, he is responsible for the global command and control of U.S. strategic forces to meet decisive
national security objectives. In 2007, he was nominated as vice chairman of the U.S. Joint Chiefs of Staff. BA, 1971.
- U.S.
Sen. Norm Coleman, R-Minn.—Elected to the Senate
in 2002 (defeating former vice president Walter Mondale) to fill
the unexpired term of Paul Wellstone, who was killed in a plane
crash. JD, 1976.
- Brian
H. Hook—Counselor to John Bolton, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, advising Bolton on UN sanctions policy and overseeing the work of the Security Council's sanctions committees. Special assistant to President George W. Bush for policy from 2004-06. Counsel in the Office of Legal Policy at the Department
of Justice from 2003-04, when he represented the Bush Administration before the 9-11

Larson, Undersecretary of State for Economic, Business,
and Agricultural Affairs—A senior economic advisor
to two U.S. presidents, Bill Clinton and George W. Bush.
His responsibilities include the entire range of international economic

Neely, former Assisant Secretary
of Public Affairs in the U.S. Department of Homeland Security—She was a
top-tier advisor to President George W. Bush before becoming president and CEO of the American Beverage Association in 2005. BA

- Terry
A. Nelson, consultant for the Bush-Cheney 2004 campaign—Considered
one of the top political operatives in the Republican Party, Nelson
was the national political director of the Bush-Cheney campaign in
2004. His company, Crosslink Strategy Group, specializes in strategic
public
affairs campaigns for corporations and coalition groups. BS, Political

- Mary
Louise Epperson Smith—Became the first woman to chair
the Republican National Committee. She was also a former vice chair
of the U.S. Commission on Civil Rights. BA, Business Administration,
1935. She died in 1997.

- Mary
E. Kramer—U.S. Ambassador to Barbados and the Eastern
Caribbean,
2004 to present. She served in the
Iowa legislature for 14 years and is a former president of the

- James
C.I. Dooge—Former minister of foreign affairs
for Ireland, 1981-82. Dooge also received the Bowie medal of
the American
Geophysical Union for his contributions to geophysics research.

minister of education for the Republic of China (Taiwan), 1996-98.
His major field of interest is in environmental and geophysical
