We make admission decisions on a rolling basis beginning September 15. Expect to hear from us within five weeks from the date we receive your application, fee, transcript(s), and test scores.

We will send you a letter stating one of the following decisions:

  • Admitted—Congratulations! You have been admitted to The University of Iowa. Your admission notification letter will include residence hall housing information, an Acceptance Form, and other enrollment information.
  • Deferred—You have not been admitted after our first review. We will notify you of the final decision as soon as February 1 but no later than March 1. The number of deferred students who are admitted will depend on the competitiveness of the applicant pool and the number of spaces available. Some deferred students may be given a wait-list option. This means that they will be admitted if space becomes available. Wait-listed students will know their admission status as soon after May 1 as possible, but no later than June 1.
  • Not Admitted—At this time, you do not meet admission requirements. You may wish to improve your academic profile at another college or university, and then apply to Iowa as a Transfer student.
