How
to apply
- Submit
an application
(Note: The application deadline for summer and fall 2008 was April 1, 2008.)
- Pay
the $40 application fee
- Make checks payable to The
University of Iowa. Online applicants pay
by credit card. The
fee is not refundable.
- Have your
test scores sent
- Have
your ACT or SAT scores sent to us by the testing agency. Our
institutional code for the ACT is 1356; for the SAT, it is 6681.
- Have your
transcripts sent
- Have
your high school send an official transcript of your grades and
class rank to the Office of
Admissions,
107 Calvin Hall, Iowa City, IA 52242-1396.
If you have taken College
Classes, ask each college to send
transcripts.
Application
deadlines
- Summer
Session & Fall Semester—April 1
The priority filing date for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
and for the College of Engineering is February 1. If all application
materials
are on file February 1, you will be admitted if you meet our published
requirements for guaranteed admission. Applications received after the
priority filing date will be reviewed and
admission offered on a space-available basis. All application materials
must be postmarked on or before April 1.
- Spring
Semester—November 15
All application materials must be postmarked on or before November 15. There
is no priority filing date for spring semester.
After
you apply
Expect an Admission Decision within
five weeks from the date we receive your completed application and all supporting
materials. You will receive a Hawk ID and password after your application
is received. The Hawk ID and password will enable
you to access the University's web-based Iowa Student Information Services
(ISIS) to track the status of your application through your Admissions Profile.

Accepting our offer of admission
Pay your $185 acceptance fee as soon as possible but no later than May 1, 2008. The fee is refundable prior to May 1. Your acceptance fee must be paid before you will be able to make Orientation reservations through your Admissions Profile on ISIS.
