| Attending
a large university does not necessarily mean having large class sizes.
More than
30,000 students are enrolled at Iowa, but we have a student-to-faculty
ratio of 16:1.
Large lecture
halls host a few of our most popular undergraduate courses, with several
hundred students in attendance. However, most lectures are complemented
by classroom discussions among smaller groups. Altogether, 81 percent of our undegraduate courses have fewer than 30 students.
In addition,
Iowa students get plenty of one-on-one interaction with instructors.
All instructors have weekly office hours, and each student is assigned
an academic advisor to help them navigate the University and select
the best courses for acquiring their degree.
