There are more than 300 students enrolled at The University of Iowa under the G.I. Bill.
The Office of the Registrar advises and counsels all students who receive
VA benefits, our campus is close to a regional VA medical center,
and has active Army and Air Force ROTC programs.
Support
networks
- UI Veterans Center—This lounge in the Communications Center building is staffed by veterans and designed to ensure students who are veterans receive all the benefits they are entitled to through the university, federal, state and local governments.
- UI Veterans Association—This UI student group is designed to help newly arrived veterans or returning reservists at the University of Iowa to adjust to university life.
- Veterans
Services at Iowa—All University of Iowa students who
receive Veterans Administration benefits are advised and counseled
by this department in the registrar's office.
- Iowa
City VA Medical Center—This comprehensive health
care center, teaching hospital, and research facility is known
for a wide range of specialized medical programs. It is located
close to campus.
- Additional
community resources include a Veterans Career Counselor's Office,
an American
Legion post, and a VFW post.
Curriculum
- Air Force ROTC—Air Force ROTC is a program that prepares you to become an Air Force officer while you earn a college degree.
- Army ROTC—Army ROTC is an elective curriculum you take along with your required college classes.
- Distance Education—Choose from a mix of course-delivery formats to earn credit toward undegraduate or graduate degree and certificate programs, relicensure credit, or professional development.
