Because learning does not take place exclusively in the classroom, The University of Iowa offers undergraduate students the opportunity to live in one of our on-campus living-learning communities (LLCs). There are specific communities for first-year, transfer, and returning students, and some communities that accept a combination of students.
LLCs are small groups of students who share common academic goals or interests. Students in these communities will live in a residence hall, attend at least one class per semester together and participate as a group in various activities, such as interactions with faculty, service projects, field trips, and social events.

Quiet House option
The residence hall application also offers an option to live on a floor designated as a "Quiet House," where residents agree to keep noise at a minimum between 9 p.m. and 9 a.m.
How to apply
The housing application will be available online through your Admissions Profile on ISIS beginning in November 2011 for students admitted for fall 2012.
On your housing application, you may choose up to two living-learning community preferences, ranking them from highest to lowest priority.
Some communities select eligible students on a first-come, first-served basis; others request specific information for selecting community members.
