International students in F-1 or J-1 status (and those who are changing to F-1 or J-1) and students who are transferring in F-1 or J-1 status from another school are required to report to the Office of International Students and Scholars (OISS) for a verification process before International Student Orientation, academic orientation, and registration.

The reporting process takes place on or before the first day of the OISS International Student Orientation program. Please see the OISS Orientation web page for information about planning your arrival date.

Students who arrive early will be able to complete a partial verification. Late reporting sessions are provided at various times after orientation, but students arriving late will encounter delays in registering for classes.

Bring the following documents when you report:

  • Your passport
  • Your I-20 (for F-1 students) or DS-2019 (for J-1 students) and all forms from prior institutions
  • Form I-94 (the small white card you completed when you entered the United States)
  • Any other immigration documents received for dependents in F-2 or J-2 status.

You will receive information about the University, orientation activities for the coming week, and registration for courses. Refreshments will be available, and you will have the opportunity to meet many new students and volunteers from various countries.

If you are required to sit for an English Proficiency Evaluation,
one will be scheduled for you. The $30 fee for the test will be added to your first University bill.
