These are the deadlines for first-year students. July 27, 2009—The course will become available on this date. You will have approximately four weeks to complete Part I of the course, which is 2.5 hours long. You may log out after each section and do not need to complete the course all in one sitting. Aug. 21, 2009—Complete Part I by this date. There is a 45-day break between when you complete Part I and when you are allowed to begin Part II. The reason for the break is to allow students time to apply what they learned in Part I to their environment on campus. Please make sure to manage your time wisely in order to be able to register for spring classes. Oct. 16, 2009—Complete the entire course, Part I and Part II, including the final exam and survey, by this date in order to avoid having a hold placed on your spring registration. You will receive an e-mail when your mandatory 45-day wait is complete, informing you it is time to finish the course. This course is required of all freshmen students at The University of Iowa. If students do not comply with the deadlines and expectations regarding AlcoholEdu, students will not be allowed to register for spring semester and further disciplinary action may be taken.
