| The
focus of planning appointments, which occur in September and October
and last about 30 minutes, is to consider your academic strategy
as a whole—choosing next semester’s courses, discussing
your major and elective areas, and talking about campus resources. You
and your advisor also will go over your Degree Audit
and check your progress toward satisfying the course requirements for
the General Education Program and your major.
You’ll
also discuss how to prepare for early registration, talk about issues
that affect your graduation plan, confirm your upcoming registration
date, and discuss avoidable circumstances that may delay early registration
(i.e., missing vaccination documentation or delinquent U-bills).
Planning
appointments also provide the opportunity to talk about anything that
worries you, from open major-induced insecurity and roommate concerns,
to finding a tutor. Learning to handle issues like these
is your first step in finding your own way through the University.
