Get a safe and smart start
As a first-year college student, you confront new challenges and new choices. Be ready from day one.

Take these online courses before you arrive
The University of Iowa requires all incoming students to take two online courses before they arrive on campus:

  • nformd.net is designed to help students protect themselves and each other from sexual assault, harassment, stalking, and dating violence. It can be taken online between June 15-Aug. 1, 2009.
  • AlcoholEdu is a two-part course designed to prevent alcohol-related problems and to educate students on the impact of alcohol on the mind and body. You can take Part I online between July 27-Aug. 21, 2009. Part II will be available 45 days after you complete Part I, and is due by Oct. 16, 2009.

Complete nformd.net by August 1 and Part I of AlcoholEdu by August 21 in order to register for classes for Spring Semester 2010.

Why are these courses required?
A safe, respectful environment gives everyone the opportunity for success. Come to campus with the knowledge you need to help you and your friends succeed.
