Academic Advising 101 for Transfer Students
At Iowa, every student has an academic advisor. You must see your advisor to register for classes or to change your registration after classes begin, although you can talk with your academic advisor whenever questions come up. Just remember that advisors will help you understand your options, but the final decisions are yours.

Academic Advising Center
Academic advisors provide support for students through systematic and frequent contact. During Orientation, you will meet with your advisor to talk about graduation requirements, select appropriate courses, and learn how to use campus resources effectively.

Some incoming transfer students are assigned to an advisor in the Academic Advising Center (AAC) while others are assigned directly to a departmental advisor based on their intended major.
