Placement Tests for First-Year Students
First-year students are required to take a Mathematics Placement Test (MPT). You'll take the Chemistry Diagnostic Test (CDT) if you are considering a major in any of the health or natural sciences.

Whether or not you'll need to take a Foreign Language Placement Test (FLPT) depends on your high school foreign language background and your future plans for language study at Iowa. Click on the test title for details.

Complete all necessary placement tests no later than 14 days before your scheduled Orientation program.
