Admission requirements beginning summer 2009
First-year students are guaranteed admission if they:
- Submit a complete application—including test scores and transcripts and the application fee—by the priority filing date of February 1.
- Successfully complete the High School Course Requirements
- Meet the Regent Admission Index requirement:

Admission requirements are different for first-year students who intend to begin their studies in Spring 2009:

If your high school does not rank
We will base our admission decision on a holistic review of your application. Your high school courses and the grades earned in those courses, your cumulative GPA, course rigor, ACT and/or SAT scores, and any other information that you provide us will be taken into consideration. If you are concerned that your academic profile does not accurately reflect your abilities, apply through our individual review process as described below.
If you are a homeschooled applicant
Our admission decision will be based on a holistic review of your transcripts, areas of study, and your ACT or SAT score. Any additional information provided also will be taken into consideration.

Individual review process
The Individual Review Process is designed for applicants who do not meet our published admission standards.
Application deadlines
- Summer session & fall semester—April 1
The priority filing date for the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is February 1. If all application materials are on file February 1, you will be admitted if you meet our published requirements for guaranteed admission. Applications received after the priority filing date will be reviewed and admission offered on a space-available basis. All application materials must be postmarked on or before April 1.
- Spring semester—November 15 (October 1 for international applicants) All application materials must be postmarked on or before November 15. There is no priority filing date for spring semester.
English
proficiency requirement
If you are a U.S. citizen or permanent resident
whose first language is not English, you must
take an English
Proficiency Evaluation during your Orientation
program. Exceptions are made in the cases of
applicants whose ACT English subscores are 21
or above (combined SAT Critical Reading score
of 540 or above) and those whose Test of English
as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) scores are 600
and above on the paper-based test, 250 and above on the computer-based test, or 100 and above on the Internet-based test. Applicants seeking exceptions should
contact the Office of Admissions.

This college awards the Bachelor of Arts (BA), the Bachelor of Science
(BS), the Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA), the Bachelor of Music (BM),
and the Bachelor
of Liberal Studies (BLS).

General
Education Program requirements
All students entering the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences
who wish to earn BA, BS, BFA, BLS, or BM degrees must complete the General
Education Program in addition to the course work required for their specific
major.
