College
of Nursing
Students may be admitted to the Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program after satisfactory completion of pre-nursing courses in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. Most students apply to the college during the second semester of their first year. Highly qualified first-year students may be admitted directly from high school through the Early Admission Program.
Another path to a nursing career is for students to earn an undergraduate degree in another area and apply to enter the 18-month graduate-level Master of Science in Nursing (MSN)-Clinical Nurse Leader program.
Application process for first-year students
First-year students interested in majoring in nursing apply to the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences and indicate an interest in nursing.
Early Admission
Highly qualified first-year students will be admitted directly into the College of Nursing through the Early Admission program.
BSN program
Admission to the BSN program is very competitive and meeting the admission requirements does not guarantee admission. About 80 students are admitted to the program each fall. To be considered for admission, you must:
- Complete the High School Course Requirements
- Complete the Prerequisite College Courses with a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of 2.70 or higher and a grade of C (2.00 GPA) or higher in the prerequisite college courses
- Applicants for whom English is not the first language also are required to present a minimum TOEFL score of 550 on the paper-based test or 81 on the Internet-based test.
The application deadline for fall admission to the BSN Program is April 1.
