Health insurance requirement
All new undergraduate students (first-year and transfer) enrolled for 5 or more semester hours are required to have health insurance coverage for the entire time they are students at Iowa.

Report your health insurance status on ISIS
Your Admissions Profile on ISIS will ask you to report whether or not you have health insurance.

• If you have health insurance, be sure to bring a copy of your insurance card to campus when you begin classes.

• If you don't have health insurance, you will automatically be enrolled in the University's Student Health Insurance Plan (SHIP).
