Transfer admission requirements
Eight of the University's 11 academic colleges admit transfer students, including the colleges listed below. Each college has its own admission requirements.

Business
Dentistry
Education
Engineering
Liberal Arts and Sciences
Medicine
Nursing
Pharmacy

External degree programs
The Center for Credit Programs offers two external degree degree programs:

  • The Bachelor of Applied Studies (BAS) is designed for graduates of community college technical programs who wish to complete a bachelor's degree, but who, due to family and/or employment responsibilities, cannot engage in traditional on-campus study.
  • The Bachelor of Liberal Studies (BLS) allows students to complete a bachelor's degree without attending classes full-time on campus.

Transferring credit from other colleges
Courses completed at colleges and universities accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools, or similar regional associations, are acceptable for transfer to The University of Iowa.
