Researchers scramble out of high-tech home

Experiments conducted in the Iowa Advanced Technology Laboratories, or IATL, enjoyed perfect conditions for top-notch research. Once the flood threatened the building—at an earlier date than forecast, no less—researchers were forced to salvage what they could of their high-tech equipment and head for higher ground. Chris Coretsopoulos, director of the Microfabrication Laboratory, describes the hectic scene and talks about new contingency plans in place for IATL occupants.
