Black and gold flags flapping in the cool breeze. Burgers sizzling on the grill. The Hawkeye Marching Band striking a familiar chord.
Thousands of Iowa alumni will return to campus for Homecoming events Sept. 23-30 to rekindle college memories—and create new ones.
With a foundation in the liberal arts and sciences, an Iowa education prepares graduates to lead fulfilling lives in many professions. And graduates give back: The University of Iowa has educated 80 percent of the state’s dentists, 50 percent of physicians and pharmacists, 40 percent of nurses, and teachers and administrators in 80 percent of Iowa’s school districts.
Iowa grads include notables in literature, the sciences, and the humanities—people who contribute to Iowa and the world in extraordinary ways.
They give back to the University, too, providing support for scholarships that allow future generations to benefit from the same high quality education.
Homecoming is a time to reconnect with old friends and faculty and to participate in Iowa traditions. It’s a reminder that no matter how far away Iowa graduates go, they’ll forever be Hawkeyes.
