Cambus is a University of Iowa service conceived, supervised and operated by students. Serving students, faculty, staff and the general public, Cambus has developed into a vital service providing nearly 4 million rides per year. Cambus is a vivid example of the superior abilities and dedication of UI students.
Cambus also operates a specialized transportation service for students, faculty and staff with disabilities. It is a demand-response, curb-to-curb service provided with lift-equipped mini-buses. Interested persons should first contact the Bionic Supervisor to determine eligibility: 335-7595. The general public should contact SEATS for such transportation service: 356-5210
Cambus has acquired four new buses equipped with front step wheelchair lifts, in addition, all older buses have been retrofitted, making them accessible for use by persons with disabilities. These vehicles allow Cambus to provide 100 % accessible service. Your input on how we are doing and what we can do better is much appreciated.
Cambus does not charge a fare to ride and its services are available to the general public. Cambus is a prepaid system funded in part by student fees. Students, faculty and staff may contribute additional money by checking "Cambus" on the optional fee cards which are distributed each year. Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
Cambus drivers' watches are set at the time established by the Master Clock at the U.S. Naval Observatory. Variations from your time may occur. The drivers make every effort to safely operate on schedule, however, many unavoidable factors impact this ability (i.e. weather, traffic). Your understanding of these factors is appreciated.
All Cambus stops are marked by signs. Riders may board and exit only at these designated stops. This insures the safety and reliability of the service.
The name of the bus route is displayed on the front and right side of each bus. For more service information check the Routes and Schedules pages or call Cambus at 335-8633.
