The Communication Studies Department at the University of Iowa recognizes that internships provide students with access to professional work experiences and serve as a means for students to build experiences in work environments related within and to the communication field that augments and supplements experiences gained through course work in the classroom.
Students must meet the following criteria to receive credit for 36:028 Communication Internship:

To receive credit in the Communication Studies major, students must obtain provisional approval for their proposed internship experience.
Not every job is an internship. To be granted Provisional Approval means that the concept and duties of your proposed internship have been been considered and approved by the Department Internship Coordinator Dr. Barbara Welch Breder. Students MUST receive PROVISIONAL APPROVAL. It is Step 1 in the process of applying for an internship. Without it, it is impossible to receive credit for your proposed internship.

Each student wishing to receive credit for an internship is responsible for submitting all materials requested for the internship to the Communication Studies Department within 5 working days of starting the internship. Submit the required materials to the Department of Communication Studies main office, Room 105 BCSB.
