Admission to this major is open, but first-year students will be advised in the Academic Advising Center until they complete (24-30) hours of college coursework. To be eligible to remain in Communication Studies courses, a student must have and maintain a cumulative grade-point average (GPA) of at least 2.50.

 

Major Requirements (36 semester hours)

Important Note:  Plan a minimum of four semesters to complete requirements for this major.

 

Foundations of Communication 15-16 hours
Intermediate Coursework 12 hours
Capstone Coursework 3 hours
Additional Course Hours * 6 hours

 

* Additional Course Hours can be earned by taking:

  • Intermediate coursework
  • Capstone coursework
  • Additional coursework

 

Minor Requirements (18 semester hours)

 

  • Five courses in the Foundations of Communication  15 hours
  • One Intermediate Course  3 hours
  • You are required to have a 2.5 CUMULATIVE GPA to take most communication studies courses
  • Communication Studies courses are restricted to majors ONLY during early registration
