Committee on Diversity Charter

Charge

The Charter Committee on Diversity shall be governed by the terms of the General Charter. In addition, the Committee shall:
  1. Advise on the formulation, review, and application of policies and guidelines that promote and support the full contributions of all of the University's diverse faculty, staff, and students.
  2. Consider and recommend actions that will help support and fulfill diversity-related commitments made by the University under the University of Iowa Strategic Plan and other University programs, plans, and policies.
  3. Provide a forum to which faculty, staff, and students may refer questions and recommendations concerning University diversity-related policies and procedures.



Membership

  1. Four members approved by the governing body of the faculty, currently the Faculty Senate, and confirmed by the President;
  2. Four members approved by the governing body of the staff, currently the Staff Council, and confirmed by the President;
  3. Four members approved by the governing body of the students (two undergraduates, one student from the professional colleges, and one graduate student), currently for purposes of this committee, University of Iowa Student Government, and confirmed by the President;
  4. Administrative liaisons: one representative each from the Office of the Executive Vice President and Provost, Office of Equal Opportunity and Diversity, Office of the General Counsel, Office of the Vice President for Student Services and Dean of Students, and Human Resources.

 Note: This committee will have faculty/staff co-chairs.
