Student Employee of the Year
In conjunction with National Student Employment Week (April 13-19, 2008), The University of Iowa seeks to recognize the efforts of students employed through the student part-time hourly and Work-Study programs. On an annual basis, The University of Iowa employs over 11,000 students in student hourly positions. These students make tremendous contributions to the University's goal of teaching, research, and service. Employers are encouraged to nominate outstanding student hourly employees for consideration for the Student Employee of the Year Award. The guidelines have been established by the National and Midwest Associations of Student Employment Administrators (NSEA/MASEA). Employers must submit the Nomination Form and a separate nomination letter to 213 Calvin Hall by February 18, 2008. A selection committee will review nominations and select a campus winner by March 3, 2008. The campus winner will have an opportunity to be considered for the state, regional, and national award. The 2005 campus winner was also selected as the state winner. Campus winners will not be announced until the National Student Employment Week, April 13-19, 2008. Eligible StudentsUndergraduate and graduate students paid on an hourly basis through the student hourly employment program who will have been employed for three months full-time or six months part-time from June 1, 2007 through May 31, 2008 (anticipated). The campus winner for Student Employee of the Year will receive an award certificate and an Iowa Memorial Union Bookstore gift certificate. Although only one individual can be cited as the Student Employee of the Year, the selection committee has chosen to recognize the efforts of additional student employees by awarding Certificates of Distinction and Certificates of Appreciation along with movie passes.
