For financial aid purposes, summer is considered the final session of the 2013-2014 academic year. Application information is available on our summer web page.

Applying for 2014-2015 Financial Aid

Students must reapply for financial aid each year by completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The FAFSA can be completed using estimated income information if actual information is not available. A Federal School Code (also known as a Title IV Institution Code) is required to complete the FAFSA. The University of Iowa Federal School Code is 001892. Financial aid at the University of Iowa is awarded on a first-come, first-served basis; therefore, it is important to complete the FAFSA and submit all required documents as soon as possible after January 1, 2014. View our Step-by-Step Process web page for detailed application information.

Students are able to check their 2014-2015 application status and award status on ISIS. When in ISIS, be sure to use the drop-down box to select the Fall 2014 session. Students can provide their parents with view only guest access to ISIS.

2014-2015 Award Notifications

When in ISIS, be sure to use the drop-down box to select the Fall 2014 session. The first 2014-2015 awards were made mid-March and awarding continues throughout the year.  Additional information is available on our award notification web page and in our Understanding Your Award (PDF) brochure.

2014-2015 Student Employee of the Year

April 13-19 is National Student Employment Week. During this week, the University recognizes the achievements of students employed through the student part-time hourly and Work-Study programs. In February, UI employers nominated their outstanding student employees for Student Employee of the Year. One campus winner was selected along with several students who received certificates of distinction and appreciation. View the press release.

Financial Literacy Services

Everyone likes to think they won't make mistakes with their money; however, making unwise decisions about managing money now could have a negative impact on future financial situations. UI Financial Literacy Services is a new program offered by the Office of Student Financial Aid for undergraduate students. Information and support is provided to assist undergraduate students in managing finances, reducing student loan borrowing, and understanding loan repayment options.

Electronic Communication

Communication from The University of Iowa Office of Student Financial Aid is by email. Students will no longer receive paper notifications [i.e., postcard regarding the availability of their Iowa Verification Form (IVF), requests for additional information, award notification]. Therefore, it is very important that students frequently check their University email throughout the year.
