Students who wish to establish or maintain eligibility for Federal financial aid must comply with the University of Iowa Reasonable Academic Progress (RAP) Standards. the U.S. Department of Education requires all institutions to establish standards for satisfactory academic progress which include qualitative and quantitative measures of progress.

Students who drop credit hours or withdraw from the University of Iowa may have their cost of attendance and financial aid revised to reflect any tuition adjustment. It may be necessary to repay a portion or all of your financial aid depending on when the credits are dropped or the withdrawal occurs.

Students with Federal loans are required to complete exit counseling upon leaving the institution (at the time of withdrawal or at graduation.) Exit counseling provides students with an opportunity to obtain information on their rights and responsibilities as a borrower and to update address information.
