College of Nursing

You must be admitted to the College of Nursing to apply for the following scholarships. Unless otherwise noted, applications are available from Jan Bream, College of Nursing, 30D Nursing Building, (319) 335-7016. The deadline for fall scholarships is October 1 and spring scholarships is March 1.

Norma Adams Memorial Scholarship Award

To a student in the second or third clinical nursing course who is an Iowa resident and demonstrates promise of high professional achievement. Student must be nominated.

Value: $2,000 (one award).

Ellen L. Anderson Scholarship Fund

Awarded to a student in the College of Nursing; with preference to an undergraduate from Iowa. Selected solely on the basis of financial need.

American Association of Critical Care Nurses Educational Advancement Scholarship Program

To a RN and an active member of AACN, seeking a BSN. Must have at least a B- average and be accepted into upper division nursing courses of a NLN accredited program.

Value: $1,500 (number varies).

Army ROTC Nursing Scholarship

To students with a minimum composite ACT of 19 and a cumulative GPA of 2.5.

Value: Scholarships are awarded annually in the amount of full tuition (regardless of residency status) plus $900 for books (up to $20,000). Underrepresented students also receive free room and board (number awarded varies).

The ASOON Scholarship Fund

To a junior or senior College of Nursing student. Based on financial need, academic merit, professional promise, and leadership skills.

Rhodes Dunlap Honors Program Scholarships

To a College of Nursing Honors student. Based on professional promise, academic achievement, and involvement with service activities. Further information about this scholarship can be found on the University Honors Program web site.

Eugene and Elise Weyler Scholarship Fund

Awarded to an undergraduate in nursing in the upper 30 percent of academic class; must be a U.S. citizen, show financial need, demonstrate a caring attitude, be of high moral character, and show a willingness to succeed and achieve in the nursing profession; show professional promise and demonstrate campus/community involvement.

Eva Erickson Fellowship Fund

To junior or senior undergraduate students with a 3.00 or better grade-point average who demonstrate potential for graduate study and interest in nursing service administration.

Gamma Chapter-Sigma Theta Tau Scholarship Award

To selected undergraduate students with the highest grade-point average among all students eligible for Sigma Theta Tau membership. Student nominated based on grade-point average.

To a student enrolled in a National League for Nursing-accredited baccalaureate nursing program. Must be a U.S. citizen, have a specific service contract, and a 2.00 grade-point average. Preference to Native Americans.

Scholarship for the Undergraduate Education of Professional Nurses (SUEPN Award)

To full-time nursing students; must be a U.S. resident with financial need. Requires a pay-back contract requiring two years' work in an area with a "critical" shortage of nurses.
