University letterhead is available in two standard layouts—one with the department address at the top, and the other with the address at the bottom. When you find the style you like, print out the page and send it to the Printing Department along with your requisition. Note: Most colleges have selected one letterhead style for use among all departments, programs, or units. Collegiate style selections Is an electronic letterhead template available? Yes. An electronic letterhead template can be ordered from the Printing Department. This is a Microsoft Word document that contains the University's identity elements. It can be used on both IBM and Macintosh systems. What should I do if I think my unit shouldn't be using standard University stationery? If a unit believes it should not be using standard University stationery, the unit must request this in writing by submitting a letter of exception to Steve Parrott, director of University Relations and chair of the Graphic Identity Committee, 101 JH. How should the logo and wordmark be used on printed materials? The UI dome logo and workmark must appear on the front cover of all printed communications available to external audiences. The wordmark must appear on the back cover. An easy-to-follow Identity Manual is available to answer all your questions about logo and wordmark use. To download a copy, click here. Can I use my units logo on our materials? When the president and vice presidents decided to pursue a new logo and wordmark for the University, one of their goals was to reduce the proliferation of logos in use at the University. The Graphic Identity Committee will examine current logos to determine their appropriateness of use, legibility in print and on the web, distinctiveness, and ability to reproduce in one color. New logos will be reviewed by the Graphic Identity Committee, which is convened by the director of University Relations. How do I use the logo and wordmark on a web site? University Relations has developed guidelines that set the standards for University of Iowa web pages. Content Standards for Official University Web Sites covers accessibility, logo use, copyright, page titles, navigation elements and other aspects of web page development.
