A message from Interim President Wllard L. Boyd November 2002

I am pleased to present this strategic plan report to you as interim president of The University of Iowa. Excellence is the University’s overarching goal. Excellence builds on momentum. Time is always of the essence. We cannot afford to mark time as the University searches for a new president. I view my short period in the President’s Office as a time to continue moving forward, even as we leave open opportunities for a new president to help us seize.

Now, more than ever, the Regents universities are crucial to the future well-being of Iowa and constitute a wise investment of public funds. In these times of financial challenge, we press onward with our institutional goals. I am gratified that we continue to make progress in many of our measures of excellence.
