Iowa Reading Service at WSUI/KSUI

The classical radio station, KSUI, has been broadcasting a reading service 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for the blind and print-handicapped of eastern Iowa for some time. A new service now broadcasts local news and features for the first time. The local reading takes place 8-9 a.m. daily. The reading service is provided by volunteers (including Iowa's First Lady, Christie Vilsack) and is broadcast on a subcarrier of KSUI. Special subcarrier receivers are distributed to the blind and print-handicapped in the area at no charge.
