Museum of Natural History

An 18,000-square-foot natural history display facility including the Iowa Hall gallery offers a 500-million-year journey through Iowa's geology, archaeology and ecology. The Bird Hall gallery houses over 1,000 North American Birds and the historic Laysan Island cyclorama. A 50-foot Atlantic Right Whale skeleton is included in the Mammal Hall gallery. There is also a collection of research in ethnology, paleontology, botany, ornithology and mammalogy. Museum services include guided tours, public lecture and field trip series, a graduate and undergraduate professional training program in Museum Studies, Gift Shop, formal curriculum materials, and school loan service.
