University Hygienic Laboratory Disease Tracking

During flu season, the University of Iowa Hygienic Laboratory (UHL) provides physicians with up-to-date, web-based information regarding the types of flu viruses that are circulating in the state. A click of the mouse gives health care practitioners the information needed to decide what type of treatment or prevention they should implement. In the summer, UHL tests mosquitoes, ticks, and animals for diseases transmissible to humans like West Nile Virus, Lyme disease, and other common encephalitis viruses. With knowledge about the presence of these disease agents, communities across Iowa can take proper precautions. For more information about any of the University of Iowa Hygienic Laboratory services or programs, see our web site at www.uhl.uiowa.edu.
