Changes Effective January 1, 2010
Faculty, Professional & Scientific, and Merit Supervisory/Exempt Staff
Open enrollment will run from November 2, through November 22, 2009. Here is a preview of the changes to UIChoice coming for 2010:
UIChoice is making changes to encourage use of UI Health Care services. Because UI Health Care is a key part of the University, it makes sense to structure our plan to encourage use of UI Health Care facilities. UI Health Care has committed to improving access and service to UIChoice members as well.
Co payments: The co payment for Office visits with level 1 provider have been reduced to $5.00. The co-payment for Level 2 providers have increased to a $20 co-payment. Level 3 providers continue to have 40% coinsurance instead of a co pay
Deductibles: Inpatient hospital care continues to be the only area of the UIChoice plan that has a deductible. The deductible for Level 1 providers remains at $400. The deductible for Level 2 providers has increased to $600, and the deductible for Level 3 providers has increased to $800.
After the deductible is paid ( $400, $600, or $800 depending on the provider level), the individual will pay 10% of the covered charges for level 1 and 2 providers and 40% of the covered charges for level 3 providers, subject to the out-of-pocket maximum(OPM) limits.
The coinsurance for Level 2 hospital services including inpatient and outpatient
surgery, physician
care, supplies, labs & imaging is increasing to 20%.
The coinsurance for Level 2 infertility providers is increasing from 10% to 30%.
