
Goals for the new Compensation and Classification Redesign System
A consensus of opinions from the University leadership, Human Resources and Staff Council has identified the following goals for the new Compensation and Classification System:
- Recruit, develop and retain talent
- Provide a market competitive salary structure
- Recognize and reward individual performance
- Promote open communications about the system and this project
- Continue to comply with federal and state regulations, including equal pay and comparable worth
Design Parameters
As the University continues the process toward designing and implementing a new Compensation and Classification system consistent with the goals previously identified, it will also incorporate:
- More specific job classifications reflecting skill, effort and responsibility
- Job levels to support salary administration, as well as career development, for those seeking to advance
- Salary “market zones” calibrated to be responsive to relevant market rates
- A common pay structure with flexibility to recognize variations in funding and local unit needs
