UI LEAD: Process

Your UI LEAD advisor guides you through the process and encourages you to reach your goals.
How does UI LEAD work?
Our approach is based upon the creation of a powerful partnership between you (the participant), your supervisor or faculty administrator, and your UI LEAD advisor. This partnership seeks to identify your strengths, and the specific competencies required for success within the UI, define individualized business, management, and behavioral goals, then help you to measure your progress and success.
The UI LEAD process is individualized, structured, and based on measurable goals.
We do this through a 360-degree assessment and interviews with you and your supervisor or faculty administrator. We link desired competencies and goals to the organization's strategic mission and your personal long-term career objectives. We then design a challenging action plan that builds on those strengths and provides opportunities and resources for enhanced learning and development. Over the course of the program, we continue to support your progress through one-on-one contact with your UI LEAD advisor. The steps below summarize this process:
UI LEAD Process
Step 1: Prepare
Your advisor will contact you to arrange an overview of the program, address ways to prepare for next steps, and answer any questions you have. Next, your UI LEAD advisor will facilitate two, one-hour interviews:
- One meeting is with you and your advisor,
- The second is with you, your advisor, and your supervisor or faculty administrator.
This interview process seeks to engage you and your supervisor or faculty administrator in a discussion of shared goals and success measures.
Outcome: Goals set.
Step 2: Assess
UI LEAD features multiple assessment tools. Your advisor will consult with you on product and rater selection strategies, and methods for announcing your participation in UI LEAD.
Outcome: Insight and awareness gained.
Step 3: Plan
Only UI LEAD participants receive copies of 360 results. Your advisor will meet with you to share your results, offering multiple perspectives for you to view the data, and exploring ways for you to apply it. In what may be a series of short meetings, you and your advisor 1) review results 2) start your Talent Accelerator subscription and 3) co-create your Talent Development Plan, which define your objectives and list actions you wish to take going forward. Resource referral to other professional development/continuing education activities may be a part of this plan. Additional sessions for those pursuing Leadership Coaching may be added.
Outcome: Plans made.
Step 4: Support
UI LEAD advisor follows-up with participant at 6 and 12 months, and at 18-24 months to resurvey. Then, participant, supervisor or faculty administrator, and advisor hold a closing meeting to discuss success.
Outcome: Actions taken, adjustments made, progress measured.
