Achievement Award Programs

Board of Regents Staff Excellence

Focus:  Accomplishments that have significantly benefited the University, brought honor or recognition to the University and had a significant positive impact on the State of Iowa.

Eligible Recipient:  Merit Exempt/Confidential (MSEC) and P&S Exempt (Permanent appointment, 50% time or greater)

Population/Frequency:  Campus-wide/Awarded Annually; May deadline

Initiated by:  Faculty or Staff Member

Procedure:  Nominations submitted to Staff Council, selected by the Selection Committee (appointed by Staff Council Awards Committee)

David J Skorton Award for Staff Excellence in Service

Focus:  Given to individuals who have made contributions and shown exceptional imagination and dedication to improving the University community. Must include activities of high quality in staff governance, committee work, policy improvement, program creation, etc. outside of normal job duties.

Eligible Recipient: Merit Exempt/Confidential (MSEC) and P&S Exempt (Permanent appointment, 50% time or greater)

Population/Frequency:  Campus-wide/Awarded Annually; May deadline

Initiated by:  Faculty or Staff Member

Procedure:   Nominations submitted to Staff Council, selected by the Selection Committee (appointed by Staff Council Awards Committee)

Presidential Thank You

Focus:  Recognition from President Mason to staff who have achieved an honor, award or publication that contributes to the University of Iowa mission.

Eligible Recipient:  Merit, Merit Exempt/Confidential (MSEC) and Professional & Scientific (P&S) including those covered by collective bargaining (Permanent appointment, 50% time or greater)

Population/Frequency:  Campus-wide/Awarded Quarterly

Initiated by:  HR Senior Leadership

Procedure:  Applications are submitted to Sue Buckley's office (Health Care HR collects for UI Health Care) for consideration

University of Iowa Outstanding Staff

Focus:  Recognizes current UI staff who have made outstanding accomplishments and contributions that benefited or brought honor/recognition to the University.

Eligible Recipient: Merit, Merit Exempt/Confidential (MSEC) and Professional & Scientific (P&S) including those covered by collective bargaining (Permanent appointment, 50% time or greater)

Population/Frequency:  Campus-wide/Awarded Annually; May deadline

Initiated by: Faculty or Staff Member
