Staff Appreciation Grant Program
Purpose
To assist units in showing appreciation to their staff, in ways that will be significant to that area, by offering the opportunity to apply for up to $300 to fund such efforts.
Procedure
Develop an idea for staff appreciation in your area—check for past ideas (Download/View pdf)
TIP: Establish a recognition committee with representatives from many levels within your area and ask your Staff Council Representative. Check how the University Hygienic Laboratory did it.
Incorporate the idea into your written recognition program. Need assistance? Check Tools for Writing a Program.

Guidelines for Applying
- Keep costs under $10 per staff person
- Maximum of $300 will be awarded each nomination
- Make sure that you have a written business reason in your program for the cost of the appreciation effort
- If you have non-GEF or grant funding that is not restricted for funding staff appreciation, you may match your funds to the mini-grant request funds as long as guidelines stated above are met
- First qualified are first served: funding is limited
- Applications are accepted year-round
Funding is limited. You will be notified within 10 working days regarding the status of your application for staff appreciation funding.
