Hours Worked by 90% Employees at UIHC
The following numbers for UI Health Care employees working at 90% for at least one day during the month of April 2011 were:
Total 389
No additional hours: 106
.1 to less than 10 hours: 103
10 hours to less than 20 hours: 81
20 hours or more: 99
AFSCME/Local 12 Certified Stewards List (June 2011)
A revised AFSCME local 12 stewards list was received for June 2011; however; Local 12 noted the meeting that it will be updating the list further and forwarding it to ELR for distribution among management.
On Iowa! Presentation
Michelle Cohenour gave a presentation about staff volunteering for the new On Iowa! program to welcome incoming students to The University of Iowa. volunteers are needed starting with the move in and running through the block party at President Mason's home. Many volunteer opportunities are available that will not conflict with work obligations; however, if a staff member is interested in volunteering during their scheduled work time, they should speak with their supervisors prior to signing up to volunteer. Union Item: IMU Remodel and Staffing
There are no new/additional details for management to share on this project at this time as there is no timetable. Human Resource Representative in IMU will be available to meet with a steward (upon steward's request) to answer questions about the IMU remodel and staffing. Questions pertaining to dining staff located in that building may be directed (upon steward's request) to the Human Resources Representative in University Housing & Dining.
Union Item: Facilities Management/AFSCME Partnership in the OSHA VPPA Program
John Stellmach attended a VPPA conference in May 2011 with several University of Iowa employees. VPPA (Voluntary Protection Program Association) is the leading organization dedicated to cooperative occupational safety, health and environmental management systems. The program matches interested sites with current VPP Star sites to help them achieve VPP recognition. John will be putting together a presentation for Statewide Labor Management that will be held in July 2011. Josey encouraged John to work with Dave Jackson to incorporate data and other significant information into the Statewide LMC presentation.
New Labor Management Member
Donna Muller will be replacing Kevin Ward as a member of the management team of the Labor Management Committee.
