icru distinguished mentor award

2012 Deadline - March 9, 2012

The Iowa Center for Research by Undergraduates is pleased to sponsor the ICRU Distinguished Mentor Awards. These awards were created to recognize the outstanding mentoring of undergraduate students in research and creative projects at the University of Iowa. The University of Iowa strives to provide a high quality educational experience for its students. Active participation in research and creative projects enhances the overall undergraduate experience. In addition, good mentoring encourages undergraduates to continue their educational pursuits where they excel in graduate and professional programs throughout the nation and around the world.

Eligibility
Current University of Iowa students nominate UI faculty or professional and scientific staff, who have contributed significantly to the mentoring and overall support of undergraduate research, for the award.

Nomination
Nominating students must complete the short application and submit it by the deadline. After the submission, the mentor will be contacted for their curriculum vita. Nominations that present detailed and specific examples of their mentoring experience present the best evidence for the committee. The nomination form should be submitted electronically to icru@uiowa.edu by the established deadline.

Award
The ICRU Distinguished Mentors will be recognized at the Spring Undergraduate Research Festival at the Blank Honors Center in late April and receive a certificate from the Vice-President for Research and the Provost. Recipients are provided funding for one ICRU Research Fellow for the summer or academic year following their selection.
