Sue received a B.A. from Gustavus Adolphus College, and an M.A. from the University of Wisconsin. She has been a member of the IIEP staff since 1999. Her special interests are international teaching assistant (ITA) issues such as pronunciation, fluency and presentation skills, and academic writing. Her teaching experience includes all levels of reading, writing, grammar and communication skills in intensive English programs; pronunciation, fluency and presentation skills in the ITA program; academic skills; and academic ESL writing.

Before coming to Iowa, Sue taught at the University of Wisconsin and the Katano Sister City Association in Osaka, Japan. She has travelled extensively, to Sweden, Norway, Finland, Denmark, Iceland, Russia, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France, England, Scotland, Wales, Japan, Canada and every state in the U.S. except Hawaii! Her hobbies are many: photography, computing, travel, gardening, remodeling, carpentry, taking her dog for walks, softball, tennis, basketball, bicycling, cross-country skiing, water skiing, Swedish culture and language, listening to music, and camping.
